I just read a very smart post that addresses important, serious issues about student motivation related to research. The author of the post, Kelly Dagan, discusses a variety of student beliefs that can cause them to lack motivation and dislike research, e.g., “it’s supposed to be easy.” It really pleases me to see a librarian addressing these kinds of issues rather than, say, 76 different tools that can be used as gimmicks in the classroom.
I think Kelly’s blog is new (I discovered it because she linked to Rule Number One on her list of blogs she likes (what good taste!)), so go over there and give her some support … this library blog game ain’t easy!
I’m thrilled and honored that you’ve featured my post — thank you!
Your blog is one of my favorite for thoughtful reflections on the profession, with great discussions of the educational work we do. I thoroughly enjoy your work, and happily share it with anyone who will listen! My blog is indeed new, and I look forward to developing it and engaging with the great librarian community out here on the vast Internet Ocean.
